From bungee jumping to public speaking

🎤 Overcoming fears: From bungee jumping to public speaking! 🚀

There I was, on the pier in Scheveningen, with clammy hands and a heartbeat that went towards the rhythm of a runaway drum kit.

The container under the crane started to rise, and my nerves went up with it. But guess what? I jumped! From a height of 60 meters with my head towards the North Sea.

My very first bungee jump. How cool was it - during and afterwards!!!

Why am I sharing this? Because I believe that overcoming fears makes us stronger. And yes, that also applies to fear of public speaking. ESPECIALLY to fear of public speaking! Because how often do you come across a 'crane container' to jump off with a stick on your legs? Much less often than you get the opportunity to speak in public!

🎙️ As a Public Speaking trainer/coach, it is my mission to help others overcome their fear of public speaking. I know from my own experience that it is feasible, and it is worth it!

So, let’s talk about building your own public speaking ‘bungy jump moment’. Finding that inner courage and determination, and yes, also using your voice, body language, and narrative structure to get your message across powerfully. But the technique comes later; first, let’s get over the first hurdle of moving from fear to healthy competitive tension.

💪🏼 Oh, and Hugo, the laid-back instructor who rode with me in the crane’s bucket? He distracted me from my fear by talking to me, giving me last-minute instructions. He gave me something else to focus on instead of my fear. And you know what? That’s a principle I apply in my training too. Sometimes it’s not just about overcoming fear, it’s about finding a different focus, in order to move from a counterproductive focus to a productive focus.

💬 So here’s my invitation to you: if you too want to be prepared to take that leap, to overcome your fear and then enjoy that personal growth, let’s get started together. Send me a message and let’s create your podium moment together! In short: Let's Boost Your Speech.

Yes, Boost my speech!
